MacIntosh Option Codes for Foreign & Special Characters

 

From the beginning, the MacIntosh supported foreign and special character input from the keyboard.

OVERVIEW Below are lists of Microsoft Word keyboard shortcuts for Windows and Macintosh.

Ø These symbols may not be available in all font types. Before starting a document, test the font choice to determine if the desired characters are available.

Ø For more characters not listed here, select "insert" from the menu bar and select "symbol".

Ø Characters that do not have shortcuts already can be given a shortcut of your choosing.

On the menu bar choose "insert" Select the option for symbol, locate the symbol you

want to use under "fonts". Click on the symbol you want and then click on the button

that says "shortcut keys". Enter the key stroke you want to use then click OK.
